Hello Simmers, Goodbye Sims

Post by kls1st »

I never would have thought I was so attached to these Sim people. I'm sure they were sadder than me as, one by one, they were just gone, but there were some losses that hurt a lot. It was harder to say goodbye to Neville than I expected, didn't realize how fond I'd become of him. Loosing Ariebell was terrible. She had so much potential. Finding this forum is a blessing because, of course, you understand. Are we nuts? Does it matter? The answer to both those questions is "yes and no". I certainly don't expect anyone to actually read this long list of obituaries but it feels cathartic. Thank you for the opportunity. Perturbee, I must say you are a real mensch. Thank you and all your folks for your efforts here.

Abby A'Bell, heiress, founder, ready at a moment's notice to pick up the slack. She had many friends and many talents. She was a terrible cook though. Nobody ever told her so. She had no sense of smell but wouldn't admit it.

Colby A'Bell née Colson, rambling' man, found his heart's home with Abby. He was good with his hands and loved his house full of girls but he wasn't much liked by anyone else. He was the only one who could tell their twins apart when they were little.

Zack A'Bell, liked her boy name. She excelled at karate and basketball, loved her sister in spite of her bossy ways. She learned to cook soon as she could and took over for Abby by the time she was eleven. She didn't like being so impatient with her husband Diggle, but just couldn't help it.

Diggle A'Bell née Liu aka Last Minute Child, last born before the plague, only ever puttered about, like he knew there was never any point. He remained cheerful, though, and wrote songs for Zack and loved her the best he could.

Zell A'Bel, bleached her black hair as soon as mom let her. She loved her twin but needed to define herself. She was tough and independent. She thought of herself as extra but everyone else thought she was a bonus. Unconvinced, she compensated by being bossy.

Ceelie A'Bell née Berry, never really found a focus until he focused on Zell. Then he cracked down and found a talent for tailoring, won Zell's heart and lived happily (though not ever after) doing her bidding.

Beryl Berry, staunch, earthy, artistic. Her paintings can be found from Chile to China. She was wise and naive, and impossibly true. Everyone went to her with their woes and came away with a light heart and the perfect painting. She and Drew died within moments of each other.

Drew Berry, married so long to Beryl, he doesn't remember having another last name but he must have. He was all about The Love; for his wife, his children, his friends, his town. He was quite good at a lot of things.

Ariebell Berry, in no hurry to grow up, much less old, much less dead. She conquered every challenge with persistence and grace, danced her way through life with a song stuck in her head. She knew Quillin wanted her but she wanted the world.

Edric Edwin, a rogue and a rake, he partnered with just about every woman in town, and then some, but he was a good dancer and a really great kisser. Most of the men disliked him, but the women... aaahhh, the women...

Flo Fluer aka Edwin aka Gilly aka Hoo, Joba, Olo, Ross, Sidhari, Taporol (who'd we miss?). Flighty Flo, lived everywhere and nowhere, loved whoever she was loving and was well loved in return. Appropriately, the Hummingbird was her spirit guide.

Glow Gilly, an uncompromising girl in a black and white world, found yellow and got mellow. (Thank you Flo.) Elegant no matter the hardship, she held her head high, never backed down, and never, ever gave up.

Happy Hoo, farm boy, staid, boring, loyal and true. On the surface he seemed kinda dumb but he did love to read. Hidden depths to this one. Iqo was his only love and just about his only friend.

Iqo Hoo née Ino, heart of a poet, soul of a warrior. She loved Happy but he was very boring. She couldn't divorce him but she moved away and sewed colorful clothing and watched the ocean through her big window. He came over to fix stuff and she didn't mind.

Joe Joba, constant, nonjudgmental, everybody's buddy. Called his mother on Sunday, loved his dog, loved barbecue. Sold his barbecue recipe and made a ton of money. He had a Gold Medal for diving and his picture was on cereal boxes.

Kay Liu née Kamina, all about home and family. She was an excellent cook, a decent soccer player, and quite the computer savant. Didn't know a disc from a download but there wasn't a button she wouldn't push.

Lulu Liu, it was all about Kay with her, but she loved the kids, almost as much as she loved fishing. She watched sports on TV when she wasn't at the fish pond or spending time with Kay and the kids.

Quillin Liu, a little obsessed with Ariebell, thought she was The One but she just wanted to be "friends". In the meantime he became a preeminent sculptor with works displayed around the world though he never, never traveled.

Kaylee Liu, ever the Little Sister, never really accomplished anything but she was a sweet girl who helped her mothers and she could could swim like a fish. Lulu used to tease her that she better watch it, she might get filleted for dinner.

Mo Murray, too handsome, too charming, everything came too easy. He was good at everything except loving Neville. He never understood how overbearing he really was. He wasn't a bad man, he just had a better way of doing everything.

Neville Newman aka Murray, sweet, sensitive, poetic fellow. Lived in the wrong age. Hard as it was for him to leave Mo, that's when he really blossomed There wasn't a thing he couldn't grow. His orchid hybrids are still famous in certain circles.

Ooloo Olo, exotic in any world, stolen from a faraway land as a child. After much misadventure, she found a home and authored a series of stories that was not only therapeutic for her but won renown and made her rich, to boot!

Perry Perl, rock solid, animal lover. He was a beekeeper and fostered dogs and cats and everything else. Some days seemed like all he did was fill bowls and clean up poop but he got them healthy and found them homes. He loved cinema and hosted "Dinner and a Movie" parties.

Rissa Ross, spiritual seeker of truth and beauty. She could spend hours in the bath with a book and a bottle of wine. She liked people well enough but loved her solitude. She baked the best cookies ever and had a personal relationship with Santa.

Saro Sidhari, got all the brains and no shortage of looks. She moved into the haunted house to disprove the existence of ghosts but befriended them instead. She was a scientist and her ghost friends brought her ectoplasm for her experiments.

Tadiro Taporol, lead guitar for Puns and Proses. Had a temper but mostly he was a really nice guy. Generous to the town, he kept the fire department fully funded. His sister died in a fire when he eight. He thought he should have been able to save her.

Utrillo Utlu, bit of a slacker, very social, loved games and girls. He never got rich but his movie shorts did alright so he was able to spend his afternoons playing games with his dog and his evenings playing games with his friends.

Viv Varue, deliberately shallow, didn't like being alone or talking about herself. She ran a coaching facility for various seasonal athletic activities. She was also a very successful realtor and committed anonymous kindnesses.

Wes Ward, owned the East End Bed and Breakfast and Fine Dining. Folks came from all over to have their weddings and whatnots in this beautiful place. He grew a lot of the food he served and did most of the baking. Best banana bread in the world.

Xinia Xui, cerebral, noncommittal, insular but not unkind. Loved to travel and taught geography. She tutored the kids when they needed help with their studies and held open lectures in the evenings on an eclectic selection of subjects.

Yolan Yarrow, very funny woman but she had a deep well of sorrow. She simply would not talk about where she came from. She loved to read by the fire and cook for her friends and she never yelled at her dog.

Aldo Azlon, strong silent type, didn't make a lot of friends but once a friend, always a friend. He was a retired fisherman and ran the ferry to the mainland and back four times a day, weather permitting. He was a good captain.

BB Bo, woodsy type, always with the flannel. She loved her winter wonderland and her reindeer. She loved hiking and leaf collecting and coffee. She got it from Nicaragua and drank it with reindeer milk and fireweed honey from Perry's bee hives.

Capp Cobb, gruff, no-nonsense, retired talent agent. He was owner/operator of a restaurant/bar, live music every night but Monday. Served the catch of the day and The Best Chocolate Mousse. He was honest as the day is long and expected the same in return. He rented out apartments and never hassled his tenants.

A roving band of musicians has moved in. They stopped because one of their members was having a baby. They are a talented and respectful group, but I don't think they'll stay long... no audience.

It's a beautiful town, though, with lots of custom homes. Surely someone will come and stay a while.

Haha, no not sad. I'm surprised you even read so much. After a couple starts, I settled on alphabetical, made it easier to find Sims. Got a little wonky with the children. Oh well, IF there's a nest time....
