The houses are not interesting to me. But looking through them I found, the players have put effort in building them.

I agree about the effort put in and, in a lot of cases, players have tried to pass on rare or expensive items. It's a shame that FM are removing them and not even replacing them with other items. It makes it seem that the "architects" have been careless...
Also, I think the houses seem oddly laid out because we don't know the story of the sims they were designed for--I know several of my homes would need some explaining lol!

I really like the houseboat.

Or, I guess I should say that I really like it in comparison to other houseboats. There are a few things about it that I dislike, but overall I think it is really well laid out. The weird disco lights, spiral stairs, and all the twin beds are what I dislike.

There are new houses. Some already have French Romance items.

There are a few interesting things in the last house (premium lot).

There's the stereo from the fitness online bundle (the one from the gym):

There's also the original dance machine and the purple urban sofa:

And the owl from the spell casting hobby:

There's also lots of French Romance doors and windows and some furnishings.

Of course there's also the obligatory gutted rooms and that counter from the restaurant is here again. I wonder if that counter is supposed to take the place of the chocolatier bench...although they proven they take items out so I don't know why they wouldn't just take the chocolatier bench out, too. It's just odd that the counter keeps showing up.

I saw the stereo but I thought it was one of the Scandinavian house, thanks for letting us know, now I'm gonna go and build the house. This house has the teen mansion template for those who have not completed the simtown sign.
As for the restaurant counter, I am keeping a house just for that single item so I will delete it and put it in inventory, since it might show up again.

How often are the architect homes updated? I just finished building a new house and it seems like it's no longer available now

I think it depends on what is happening in game... Sometimes every three days so you can't get duplicate housing and sometimes there may be a week or so in between.
